Welcome to Our Community
Become part of our women’s golfing community and enjoy fresh air, friendship, exercise, and the fabulous views on our downland course.
Our aim is to foster a supportive and enjoyable environment that encourages participation in golf at all levels.
With a current membership of around 70 female playing members, you will join a friendly and inclusive community. New members are welcomed through a range of fun events, WhatsApp contact groups, and a “buddy” system. Hockley offers a full range of women-specific and mixed events that cater to novice, social, and competitive golfers alike.
Hockley has a rich history of successful women golfers and teams. Several of our members have represented the county, and we have a past Seniors National Open Champion and Senior England International in our ranks.
We have a women's committee focusing on golf and also have female representatives on other club committees.
Competitions & Events

9 and 18-hole events
Traditional Stableford and medal competitions
Trophy events with opportunities to get your name on the club honours boards
Inter-club competitions and friendlies
Invitation and away days
Knockout competitions, including mixed/female options
Most competitions are played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. With more mixed-gender competitions being offered, there are many options for those who want flexibility in when they play.
Women at Hockley
Emma Allen, our female PGA assistant professional, is passionate about women’s golf and leads Hockley’s women-specific coaching programmes. She will guide you through your golf journey with a structured pathway from beginner through Academy Membership, and on to full club membership when you are ready. Emma works with all levels of ability, so whether you are a novice, returning to the game, or an experienced golfer, she would be delighted to assist you. Further details can be found below.
Hockley is a signatory to the R&A Women in Golf Charter. As a member of the women’s section, you are automatically a member of Hampshire Women’s Golf, enabling you to enter individual and pairs competitions at other top clubs across Hampshire.
