Sustainability at Hockley

Environmental stewardship is a priority at Hockley. With climate change projected to produce warmer, wetter winters and hotter, drier summers in the south of England, Project Neptune will provide a reliable, sustainable water supply. The scheme will capture winter rainfall in a new reservoir for use in the summer, removing the need for Hockley to rely on potable water for course irrigation.

Developed with ecologists and environmental experts, the project will also bring over 15% nett-biodiversity gains.

We are working in partnership with Inert Recycling Ltd, specialists in recovering surplus soil from commercial and residential sites. That material will be repurposed to form the reservoir and irrigation infrastructure, giving it a productive use rather than consigning it to landfill.

As part of the South Downs National Park, we work closely with the park authority to ensure our operations are environmentally responsible. Our five-year sustainability plan guides everything we do and helps Hockley remain a place where people and nature thrive together.
