The Course

The course is set on chalk and as a result is very free draining - particularly in the winter time - in all but the very worst of conditions.

The basic layout is downland, and after a gradual climb up the valley to the 5th hole, the course is set - more or less - at a consistent level. There is one further slight climb up from the 13th tee - but you are rewarded from the 14th fairway with magnificent views away to the south - and in the very best of conditions you can see the Isle of Wight in the far distance.

The course stands at 6420 yards in length with a standard scratch of 72 (white tees) and offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers of a modest ability and better.

A large practice area including driving bays, chipping green, practice bunker and a putting green are available for members and visitors pleasure.

In the late spring and summer, the rough can be very 'testing' but to add to your enjoyment we have cut one further swathe of rough to about 4” on each side of the fairways beyond the semi rough and only a wider shot will find the really tough stuff.

However if the wind blows you will do well to score close to par. Course information will be available on the telephone in order to give advanced warning of any restrictions where possible.
