Hockley
is a James Braid designed course set on 250 acres
of historical chalk downland overlooking Winchester
the ancient capital of Wessex.
The
chalk is exceptionally free draining which allows
the course to be played in its entirety in all but
the most adverse conditions. The course is 6506 yards
in length with a standard scratch of 71 (white tees)
and offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers of a
modest ability and better.
A
large practice area including driving bays, chipping
green, practice bunker and a putting green are available
for members and visitors pleasure.
Complete
your enjoyment with a visit to our well-stocked Professional
Shop, a meal in our restaurant or simply a drink and
a snack in the bar.
Update for Spring 2008
We
are pleased to remind members and visitors that Hockley
is a particular delight to play during the Spring.
The course will remain in excellent condition due
to the free draining chalk. Players will be using
grass tees and playing to proper greens. Trolleys
and buggies will only be restricted in extreme weather
conditions. Course information will be available on
the telephone in order to give advanced warning of
any restrictions where possible.
We
are also pleased to inform players that our new menu
by chef Richard Cairns will be available after your
game.
If
you want to be able to play golf 12 months a year
- we have a few membership vacancies available - please
see the membership page for details.
Members
are advised that from Sunday to Friday they may now
sign in 3 guests at a reduced green fee of £20
each (Saturdays remain as before, i.e. 1 guest at
£25)
Details
of all of the above are available in the Pro-shop or the clubhouse notice
boards.
